Dmitry Yablonsky has been named Music Director of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, succeeding Julian Rachlin as the JSO prepares for its 90th season
Yablonsky will assume the role as of the 2026/27 season
Israel’s Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (JSO) has welcomed Dmitry Yablonsky as its new Music Director and Chief Conductor. Yablonsky will succeed conductor-violinist Julian Rachlin who held the role for three years.
Yablonsky has been a longtime collaborator of the JSO, having conducted the orchestra in Israel and on international tours to the U.S., the U.A.E., and Japan. In 2016, he was named Conductor Laureate of the JSO.
Hailing from Moscow and raised in a musical family, Yablonsky has since performed worldwide as a cellist plus conducted ensembles including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National d’Île-de-France, and the Israel Symphony Orchestra in addition to the JSO. From 2000 to 2004, he served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra.
His discography comprises more than 80 albums, the majority of which are released on the Naxos label. Highlights include an Erato recording with Vadim Repin and Boris Berezovsky of Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich string trios. In 2008, Yablonsky conducted a GRAMMY Award-nominated recording of Miklós Rózsa’s Violin Concerto.
