A musical journey that combines ancient and modern music. A discovery of ‘Maqam’ Jewish and Turkish music, accompanied by percussion.
 
 ‘In a free spirit’ was born 4 years ago, when the three artists performed it for the first time during the ‘Violins of Hope’ event in Sion, Switzerland.
It’s a musical journey that will take the audience from the East to the West, combining ancient and modern music. Musical freedom is to go through magical unique compositions and improvisations. The artists make us discover another spiritual wealth of ‘Maqam’ (traditional Arabic music), Jewish and Turkish music, accompanied all along by percussion.

Yair Dalal, composer, violinist and oud player, plays a major role on the stage of the world music. Dala lis also dedicated to preserving certain musical heritae: the tradicional music of Babylon and the Bedouin nomads of the Sinai desert.

He creates a new Middle Eastern music by interweaving the Iraqi musical traditions, Jewish and Arab.

Cihat Askin, born in Istanbul, violinist, composer and teacher of violin and Doctor at the Royal College of Music and City University. Besides his activities as a performer, Askin writes musical arrangements for violin and other instruments.

He won the Istanbul Philharmonic Society Award.

Erez Monk, Israeli master percussionist, plays the ‘tabla’ and many other Middle Eastern percussion instruments. He is specialized in world music.
